Outlaw’s Angry Dome

Sometimes I really wonder how the DS is outselling the PSP. Not because of the games or anything; DS definitely has the superior library of games. But I almost never see anyone in public actually playing a DS. As I pointed out in an earlier post, I ride the bus everyday, and I often see one or more riders either playing a PSP game or listening to music. I even saw a guy with a full head of gray hair playing one today. So where’s all the DS’ at? I’ve tried to help the cause by playing Apollo Justice and Professor Layton on my hour ride, but other people need to join in. Can I at least get one other person to play with on the way home?

I hate Michael Moore.  I really, really hate Michael Moore.  Unfortunately, I have to watch three Micheal Moore movies in my Health class this semester, and I’m just dreading it.  We had to watch Bowling for Columbine recently and do a page reaction to the film.  Now, I’m normally a slacker when it comes to writing, but my hate for Michael Moore got me to write twice that much, most of him lambasting him for being the fat douche he is.  I mean, I agree with some of his viewpoints but his films are basically propaganda that give the right plenty to pick apart.  I can’t tell you how happy I was when he blew himself up in Team America: World Police.

Aaah…Apollo Justice is finally out.  I’m so glad to finally be able to play the latest installment in the Ace Attorney series, even if it’s with a brand new scrub attorney.  It’s nice to see Capcom’s writers still haven’t lost their touch with people named things like Olga Orly (Oh really, Ms. Orly?).  Not playing as Phoenix is a little strange and actually seeing his sprite other than in court is also strange.  I’m really anxious to see what happened to Nick’s career in the seven year gap between the third game and this one, but I guess I’ll just have to work my way to the solution.  Hopefully he didn’t get in trouble for inappropriately touching Pearl…

I rented Zack and Wiki from Gamefly this week.  It’s really, really fun but….IT’S FUCKING HARD!   I spent an hour tonight just doing one level.  I would either run out of chances to get the puzzle correctly, or die from an enemy attacking me, or accidentally destroy an item that was crucial to finishing the level.  It’s good to have a challenging game on the Wii for once but damn, it’s driving me nuts.  One problem I do have with the game is the damn bell ringing mini-game.  The fucking Wiimote doesn’t respond correctly to me shaking it like a bell making notes ring too early, too late, or not at all.  Still, I hope Capcom is already working on a sequel.

Today was Super Tuesday, and my first experience voting.  I voted for Obama in the primaries - I can’t help but vote for a black guy - and no on most of my state’s propositions other than the Indian gaming ones.  I don’t get why so many young people are so lazy about voting.  It’s not like it’s hard or takes a lot of time; are people really so unconcerned abut who will be running the country for the next four years?  Hopefully there will be a larger young turnout this year as a backlash from eight years of Bush hating.  We need to take control away from all the old people that make horrible decisions for us.

 Zzzzzz……oh I’m sorry, did the Super Bowl Halftime Show end?  Why did Fox have to choose to be ultra-safe with the halftime show this year?  I understand trying to avoid another Nipplegate, but breaking into the old folks home to drag out Tom Petty and the Heartbreaks is going too far.  First of all, I refused to believe all those good looking college students would really be that excited at a Tom Petty concert without 6 beers in their system.  Secondly, the group sounded like their dentures fell out.

Perhaps this was all just another advertising stunt for Fox.  Tom Petty does voice the character Lucky (shown in the picture) on King of the Hill.  With the Ryan Seacrest red carpet event and the Paula Abdul performance clearly advertising American Idol, I wouldn’t put it past Fox to just use the halftime show as an opportunity to plug another one of their creations.

Break out the chips and guacamole, tomorrow is the big game! Not the Super Bowl of course, but the Puppy Bowl. I’m not much of a football fan so I spend most of the Sunday flipping around whatever filler the other channels show, and I’ve been watching the Puppy Bowl since it started in 2004. There’s something so mesmerizing about watching puppies fight each other for three hours while accompanied to smooth jazz music, and the addition of the Kitten Halftime Show only sweetened the deal. Does this make me less of a man? Probably. But a bunch of men smacking each others asses and grinding each other isn’t the most manly thing either.
