Pyscho locks?

oa-edgeworth-long.jpgSo the buzz on the internets is that there will be a new Gyakuten Saiban game titled “Perfect Prosecutor” in which Miles Edgeworth is the star.  I’m not sure about how to feel about this.  Part of me is thrilled to have a new game in the series announced because the Ace Attorney games have become one of my favorite gaming series of all time.  But another part of me is sad to see a game that’s not focused around Wright or Apollo.  I’m really more interested at the next installment in Apollo’s saga since the ending of Apollo Justice left so many questions unanswered.  I know that the sequel is coming, but I’d rather have it sooner than later.

I wonder how gameplay will exactly work in this spin-off.  Usually, the prosecution doesn’t have much work to do since defendants are guilty unless proven innocent.  A new investigation mode has also been announced and I’m guessing a new court system also has to be implemented.  Going by Edgeworth’s story, and these new gameplay revelations, it’s probably not far off to think the game will happen during Edgeworth’s international travels during the second and/or third Phoenix Wright games.

In any case, I bet Oldbag is happy her Edgey-poo is back!

Achievement unlocked!

11950.jpgYes, I did it.  I rented Avatar: The Burning Earth for the easy 1000 achievement points.  I don’t feel guilty at all about it.

But is it wrong that I ended up playing the game for hours?  Admittedly  it’s a mediocre beat-em-up that is incredibly easy, has camera problems, and has ugly character models, but my love for Avatar is so deep that I can’t help but keep playing.  The same thing happened with me and Chocobo Racing, which has a metascore of 61%.  It gives credence to the thought that review scores mean nothing if you’re actually interested in the franchise.

Probably wont help with the whole Sonic Unleashed thing though.

Please stop Unleashing Sonic

Were-Sonic

Ok.  So Sonic finally confirmed the rumored Sonic Unleashed, whose screenshots have been floating around the internets for a few weeks now, and I can’t help but not care.  When is Sonic just going to give up and die?  He’s a bastardization of the brilliance of what he used to be; remember when he was cooler than Mario?  Now the series is full of bad voice acting (bring back Urkel!), overdramatic story lines, horrible camera, and a new batch of furries for every new game.  Sonic Unleashed is supposed to bring the series back to it’s roots with 2D gameplay in a 3D environment, and I’m slightly optimistic in regards to that, but…Were Sonic?  Really?  Really?!  Sonic Team couldn’t come up with better shit than that?!

…I’m probably going to buy it.

Big ass chains

googlealerts.gif

Well it’s Friday, which means I listen to the CAGcast on my way to and from work.  This week CheapyD said that he is the biggest fan of himself, and he scours the internet looking for any mention of himself.  I think I’ll try an experiment and see if I can manipulate his Google Alerts:

CheapyD.  CAGcast.  CAG.  CheapAssGamer.  Japan.  Poop.  Porn.  Big ass chains.  Youtube.  OG.  Tampon string.  Shit.  Red ring of death.  Frombie.  Fanboy.  Pot.

There.  That should definitely bring my blog readers for this post from 2 to 3 once he wanders here looking for an ego boost.

Enter the garden of madness

no-more-heroes-20061204053839518.jpgAbout two weeks ago, I got No More Heroes from Gamefly and I’ve been loving it.  First of all, it’s good to have a mature game on a Nintendo console.  The blood fountains and head flying all over the stage are just a breath of fresh air.  My favorite thing about the game has to be the protagonist Travis Touchdown (what kind of name is that by the way).  It’s not often you get an otaku character in a video game that isn’t a fat, sweaty, dork you beat up for information or something.  I can’t believe there’s so many people out there that refuse to try the game because they don’t like Suda 51 because of Killer 7, or because the graphics aren’t top notch.  It isn’t often a Nintendo console gets a third party game worth getting excited over.

Boop beep boop

ds_lite_vs_psp_comparison.jpg

Sometimes I really wonder how the DS is outselling the PSP. Not because of the games or anything; DS definitely has the superior library of games. But I almost never see anyone in public actually playing a DS. As I pointed out in an earlier post, I ride the bus everyday, and I often see one or more riders either playing a PSP game or listening to music. I even saw a guy with a full head of gray hair playing one today. So where’s all the DS’ at? I’ve tried to help the cause by playing Apollo Justice and Professor Layton on my hour ride, but other people need to join in. Can I at least get one other person to play with on the way home?

Justice wont leave until justice is done

ani-skye-snacks.gifAaah…Apollo Justice is finally out.  I’m so glad to finally be able to play the latest installment in the Ace Attorney series, even if it’s with a brand new scrub attorney.  It’s nice to see Capcom’s writers still haven’t lost their touch with people named things like Olga Orly (Oh really, Ms. Orly?).  Not playing as Phoenix is a little strange and actually seeing his sprite other than in court is also strange.  I’m really anxious to see what happened to Nick’s career in the seven year gap between the third game and this one, but I guess I’ll just have to work my way to the solution.  Hopefully he didn’t get in trouble for inappropriately touching Pearl…

Zaacckkuuuuu

zack_and_wiki_promo_pic.jpg

I rented Zack and Wiki from Gamefly this week.  It’s really, really fun but….IT’S FUCKING HARD!   I spent an hour tonight just doing one level.  I would either run out of chances to get the puzzle correctly, or die from an enemy attacking me, or accidentally destroy an item that was crucial to finishing the level.  It’s good to have a challenging game on the Wii for once but damn, it’s driving me nuts.  One problem I do have with the game is the damn bell ringing mini-game.  The fucking Wiimote doesn’t respond correctly to me shaking it like a bell making notes ring too early, too late, or not at all.  Still, I hope Capcom is already working on a sequel.

Mr. Freeman…

I’m tired and a little uninspired today, so instead of doing a real blog post, here’s another Half-Life 2 video about 100 different ways to die in Garry’s Mod.  I especially like any method with numerous explosions for no apparent reason.  Watch out for attacking melons!

Build ‘em up

Lego IslandSo according to Google, today is the  50th anniversary of the Lego Brick.   Legos used to be my favorite toy; my parents once bought me one of  those 2000 brick sets, and whenever  we went to Toys ‘R’ Us or Pic ‘n’ Save, I would always get a small vehicle kit to fool around with.  For a while my favorite PC game was actually Lego Island.  I don’t know what it was about that shitty game, but I spent hours and hours driving my pizza scooter around.  If I recall correctly, I did everything that could possibly be done probably five times over.  I even almost named my dog after the main character.  Perhaps my old love for Legos is what made me get into Perler Beads and Pixel Blocks.  Building something big out of a lot of small things is just fun, no matter how old you are.
